- Solutions Cubed
- Solutions Cubed, a company that makes accessories for BASIC Stamps and other microcontrollers, has introduced a serial keypad interface. Some of their other products include RAM storage modules, DC motor controllers, and real-time clocks. They also do excellent custom design work.
- Oopic Microcontroller
- Latest version of Oopic (an object-oriented microcontroller) includes objects for interfacing and controlling our serial displays and Mini SSC II.
- VB Serial Programming
- Richard Grier wrote Visual Basic Programmer's Guide to Serial Communications, and his web site provides a free ActiveX control for serial comms (an good workaround for VB Learning Edition users who lack the MSComm serial-port control).
- BASIC Compiler for PICs
- Basic Micro offers compilers that allow you to write code for PIC microcontrollers in BASIC, with substantial BASIC Stamp compatibility. They also offer a Windows IDE and programmers, and hardware-development boards.
- C Language Routines for PICs/Serial Displays
- Mark Crosbie programs PICs in a dialect of C for PIC microcontrollers called C2C. The language is inexpensive (registration was less than $20 at last check) and looks quite capable. Mr. Crosbie has written a comprehensive library of C routines for driving serial displays.
- Serial/Parallel Interfacing
- Jan Axelson of Lakeview Research has written excellent books on interfacing PC serial and parallel ports. These include program examples in Visual BASIC. The web page includes links to many resources for I/O under Windows.
